Introduction
Bharat Coking Coal Limited aims at providing the best facilities at workplace for improving quality of work life and achieving higher employee satisfaction/ engagement. BCCL has since inception been administering, monitoring and engaged in various activities aiming towards welfare of its employees.
The welfare facilities are provided to create congenial surroundings for personal, professional and social life of the employees for their physical, mental and emotional well-being.
a) Education:
The principle of extension of educational facilities provided to the children of Coal Mines workers was mooted in the National Coal Wage Agreement-II, which was signed on 11-08-1979.
There are 11 reputed institutions like DAVs, DPS, SVMs running under MoU with the company in its different command areas rendering their services towards molding young minds and preparing our wards for prospective careers and better life.
CIL Scholarship: The wards of employees who perform well and secure merit as per the norms in the respective exams are provided with scholarship.

Financial assistance for technical education : BCCL provides financial assistance to its wage board employees towards the cost of technical education for pursuing Engineering or Medical degree in IITs, NITs or government Engineering and medical colleges by their wards.

b) BCCL Employees’ Benevolent Fund Society:
BCCL Employees’ Benevolent Fund Society was formed to provide financial assistance to BCCL employees and their dependents in the spirit of benevolence towards fellow employees.
Present schemes:

Financial assistance to the dependent of members after their death.

Scholarship to meritorious wards, pursuing academic and technical education.

Financial assistance in case of long sickness.

c) Housing facilities:
BCCL is committed to provide standard residential facilities for all the employees. Townships with amenities like health services, drinking water supply, club, gym, children parks, community halls, postal services, banking services, shopping complex, etc. are established for the employees and their family.
d) Drinking water facilities:
BCCL focus on providing clean and safe drinking water to all its people. Every residential colony is supplied with drinking water through Integrated Water Supply Scheme. The Company has installed rapid gravity filters, slow sand filters and pressure filters to treat water before supplying to the colonies and workplaces.
e) Medical facilities:
BCCL is providing a holistic healthcare to employees, their dependent family members, retired employees & their spouse. The aim is to keep a healthy and productive work force for the company through preventive & curative, primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare in some of the disciplines of medicine. Contractor workers are also provided with IPD/OPD facilities in the company hospitals/dispensaries.
CPRMSE and CPRMSNE:
Contributory Post Retirement Medicare Scheme for executives and Contributory Post Retirement Medicare Scheme for non-executive of Coal India Ltd. is a scheme to provide health care to the retired executives and non-executives of Coal India Limited and its subsidiaries and their spouses. The benefits under the scheme will be admissible for treatment taken throughout India with defined terms and conditions.
f) Sports, Recreation and celebration of significant days:
Sports & Games have been an integral part of the company to provide avenues for recreation as well as develop physical fitness among employees at all levels.
The employees are encouraged to participate in sports and cultural events and represent BCCL in the State/National/CIL /Public Sector Meets.
BCCL provides help & support to various Sports Associations to organize Sports & Cultural events.
National festivals and days of great significance like Republic Day, Independence Day, Gandhi Jayanti, Ambedkar Jayanti, Shramik Diwas, International Yoga Diwas, CIL Foundation Day, Hindi Diwas etc. are celebrated with prompt and zeal.
“Samman Samaroh” is organized every month for superannuating employees.
g) Workplace facilities: Canteens, creche, filtered drinking water facility, pit head baths, rest shelters, guest houses, separate toilets for male and female, ramps for person with disability, library, common room and sanitary napkins vending machines for female employees etc. are some of the many workplace facilities provided to our employees for quality work life.
